The Government of El Salvador on Monday rejected a request of four Democratic legislators to erroneously visit Kilmar Abrego García.
The legislators tried to organize a meeting four days after a visit by Senator Chris van Hollen de Maryland, where Abrego García and his family live.
In an interview with MSNBC of El Salvador, Florida’s representative, Maxwell Frost, said Monday that others were already told that his visit was rejected because they are not in El Salvador “in an official capacity.”
“We are not giving it,” said Frost. “We have more scheduled meetings.”
Abrego García, a Salvadoran native who has been living with his wife and children in Maryland, was deported in March to the mega prison of Cecot of El Salvador, despite a 2019 court order that prohibits deportation to that country due to fear of persecution, after the Trump administration said he was a member of the Gang MS-13 criminal.
The Trump administration, although he acknowledged that Abrego García was deported to El Salvador by mistake, has said that his alleged affiliation of MS-13 makes him inelegable to return to the United States. His wife and lawyer have denied that he is a member of MS-13.

An official of the United States Department of State said Monday in a state report that Abrego García is in “good condition and in an excellent state of health.”
“The Salvadoran government responded on April 21 that Mr. Abrego García is being held at the Penitentiary Center of the Industrial Center in Santa Ana,” said Michael Kozak, a senior official of the State Department office.
Senator Van Hollen said that Abrego García told him at his meeting that he had been transferred from Cecot “about eight days” before.
