In the midst of the chaotic scenes of the burning of vehicles and protesters that flood the highway 101, the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, was visibly frustrated and disappointed with the situation that takes place in Los Angeles, saying: “Our city does not need to be destroyed.”

Bass revealed during a press conference on Sunday that has been talking to the Federal Administration for days, trying to discourage the deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, saying that it would create chaos.

“The deployment of federalized troops is a dangerous escalation, but we must be real about this. It is another agenda. It is not about public safety. There is clearly no plan, and there is clearly no policy,” Bass said.

The mayor also condemned the violence that has arisen from the protests.

“If you are going to entertain violence, if you are going to try to take care of a highway, then you will suffer the consequences of doing so,” Bass said.
